1. Chaturbhuj Temple In Khajuraho:

Chaturbhuj temple located in Khajuraho is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Chaturbhuj is a Sanskrit word which means one who has four arms which indicate Lord Vishnu. It was built by Yasovarma of the Chandela dynasty. The presiding deity in the temple is a four-armed idol of Lord Vishnu, 2.7 metres in height and the idol is south faced. The temple has a sanctum and an entrance porch.

Omkareshwar temple is located on an island named Mandhata or Shivapuri in River Narmada, in Khandwa district. The temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva and is one of the 12 Jyothirlinga shrines of Shiva. The complex has two temples, one each dedicated Omkareshwar and Amareshwar.

Javari Mandir is a Hindu temple located in Khajuraho and is a part of the Khajuraho Group of Monuments. The temple was built between 975 and 1100 A.D. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu but the presiding deity’s idol of the temple is broken and headless. The temple consists of a sanctum, makara arch, vestibule, mandapa and portico.

KandariyaMahadeva temple is also located in Khajuraho and is the largest and most ornate temple in the medieval temple group at Khajuraho. It means the ‘Great God of the cave’ and is dedicated to Lord Shiva in the form of linga. More than 900 stone carvings have been used to decorate the temple. There are also images of other gods and goddesses such as Surya, Brahmi, Maheshwari, Kumari, Vaishnavi and so on. Erotic sculptures are also fitted on the niches which form a major attraction among visitors.

Lakshmana temple is situated in Khajuraho and dedicated to Vaikhunta Vishnu, an aspect of Lord Vishnu. It was built by Yashovarmanv of Chandela dynasty. It is said to be the temple of a Panchayatana style architecture and has ardh-mandapa, mandapa, maha-mandapa, antarala and garbhagriha. The main idol of the temple is a tri-headed and four-armed sculpture of Vaikhunta Vishnu. There are many erotic sculptures present too.

6. Taxakeshwar Temple In Mandsaur district:

Taxakeshwar temple or Takhaji temple as called by the locals in located 22 km away from Bhanpura town in Mandsaur district. The temple worships the idol of serpent king Taxak or Taxakeshwar. It also has a statue dedicated to Lord Shiva in the main temple. The temple complex also has a grand natural pool of water with many varieties of fish.

Chausath Yogini temple is an ancient temple located in Morena district and is one of the very Yogini temples in good conditions. The temple has a circular hall with 64 chambers, a mandapa and a circular courtyard where Lord Shiva is defied. The temple is believed to be built in the 8th century and has been declared as an ancient historical monument by Archaeological Survey of India.

Varaha temple located in Khajuraho enshrines a colossal monolithic image of Varaha, the boar incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The idol of Varaha is 2.6 m long and 1.7 m high and is made of sandstone.
