Tryambakeshwar Shiva Temple in Nashik district:

Tryambakeshwar Shiva temple is an ancient temple located in the Triambakeshwar tehsil in the Nashik district dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyothirlingas. The temple has a sacred pond which is the source of the Godavari River. The major festival celebrated in the temple is Shiva Ratri.

Lalbaugcha Raja Temple at Lalbaug:

The most famous Sarvajanik Ganapati temple, Lalbaugcha Raja temple is located at Lalbaug, Mumbai. During the 10 days festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, over 1.5 million devotees visit the temple every year. After the eleventh day, on the completion of the festival, the idol of Ganesha is immersed. The auspicious day is known as Anant Chaturdeshi. The idol of Ganapati at Lalbaugcha Raja temples is currently 81 years old.

Bhimashankar Temple in Khed:

A Jyothirlinga shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva is known as Bhimashankar temple is located in Khed, near Pune. River Bhima which flows southeast originates from the temple and meets River Krishna in Raichur. It is said that the temple was built in the 13th century and resembles the Nagara style architecture. A shrine dedicated to Kamalaja, another form of Goddess Parvati is housed within the temple complex. Maha Shiva Ratri is the most popular festival here.

Mahalakshmi Temple in Mumbai:

Mahalakshmi temple is one of the most famous temples in Mumbai located on Bhulabai Desai road. The presiding deity of the temple is Devi Mahatyam, dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi. The temple was constructed in 1831 by DhakjiDadaji, a Hindu merchant. The temple houses adorned images of Goddesses Mahalakshmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswati with nose rings, gold bangles and pearl necklaces. During Navaratri, pilgrims from all over visit the temple to offer flower garlands and paraphernalia to the deities.

TuljaBhavani Temple in Tuljapur:

TuljaBhavani temple located in Tuljapur in Osmanabad district is a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhavani and is considered as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. It was built in the 12th century. There is also a temple dedicated to Markandeya Rishi and a temple of Goddess Annapurna in the main complex. Every morning at 5, there’s a ritual of playing drums in Nagarkhana very loudly which is a call for prayer to devotees. The temple celebrates Khandenavami and Dussehra.

Durga Devi Temple in Guhagar:

Durga Devi temple is situated in Guhagar in Ratnagiri district is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is considered to be the Kuladevata or clan goddess. It’s a Panchayatan style temple since it has four temples for sub-ordinate shrines of other deities, namely, Surya or the sun god, Shri Ganesh, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu with Goddess Lakshmi. The temple is visited by people all over the country during the festival of Navaratri.

Babulnath Temple in Mumbai:

Babulnath temple is also located in Mumbai on a small hillock around GirgaumChowpatty. It is an ancient construction dedicated to Lord Shiva. The presiding deity of the temple is actually an old Babul tree which is another form of Lord Shiva. One has to either climb the flight of stairs that lead to the temple premises or take an elevator to the top. Lakhs of devotees flock to the temple to offer their prayers during the annual festival of Maha Shiva Ratri.

BallaleshwarPaliTempel in Raigad District:

BallaleshwarPali temple is one of the eight Asthavinayak temples located in Maharashtra. It is situated 30 km away from Karjat in Raigad district and is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Balleshwar is another form of Ganesha which is the only incarnation to be known by his devotee’s name. The idol of Ganesha sits on a stone facing east and its eyes and navels contain diamonds.

Parvati Hill Temples in Pune:

Parvati Hill, a hillock in Pune has 5 temples located atop. They are Devdeveshwar temple, Kartikeya temple, Vishnu temple, Vitthai temple and Rama temple. The temple has 103 steps to be climbed to reach the top of the hill from where devotees can visit the temples. The main temple is dedicated to Devdeveshwara and is made of black stone.
