The festivals of Arunachal Pradesh are organised and publicised by the Ministry of Tourism, of the Government of India, every year. This article lists the top festivals celebrated in the state of Arunachal Pradesh

The Tawang Festival:

The Tawang Festival is held in October of every year. It focuses of the theme of Arunachal Tribal culture. The festival involves colourful dances, traditional cuisines, indigenous games and sports and cultural fairs. They celebrate the culture and heritage of the people of this state.

Si-Donyi of Tagin:

Si-Donyi is a festival of the tribe called the Tagins. It is celebrated annually on 6th January. It is celebrated to promote the health, wealth and prosperity of the people of the tribe. The festival involves various rituals that are performed to appease various elements like Si (Earth) and Donyi(Sun) Gods. The celebration is inclusive of all, irrespective of the age, sex and gender, and sees wide spread participation. The festival ends with folk dances and a large community feast

Reh of  Idu Mishmi:

Reh is a festival of the tribe called the Idu Mishmi. It is celebrated annually on 1st February. It is celebrated to promote the health, wealth and prosperity of the people of the tribe. The festival involves various rituals that are performed to appease various elements like Si (Earth) and other deities, and the festivities is inclusive of all, irrespective of the age, sex and gender, and sees wide spread participation. The festival ends with folk dances like the Igu dance and a large community feast.

Boor-Boot of Hill Miri:

The Boor-Boot is a festival of the tribe called the Hill Miri. It is an annual agricultural festival of the tribe. It is celebrated annually from 4th February to 8th February. It is celebrated to promote the health, wealth, good harvest and prosperity of the people of the tribe. The festival involves various rituals that are performed to appease various gods like God Boori Uyi and other deities, and the festivities is inclusive of all, irrespective of the age, sex and gender, and sees wide spread participation. There are sacrifices made of fowls and other birds to the gods.The festival ends with folk dances and a large community feast.

Losar of Monpa, Sherdukpen:

The Losar is a festival of the tribe called the Monpa who are found in Sherdukpen . It is an annual l festival of the Buddhist tribe that covers the Mahayana sects like Sherdukpens, Monpa, Khamba Memba,  and Nah. It is celebrated annually on 11th February and it is their New Year. It is celebrated to promote the health, wealth, good harvest and prosperity of the people of the tribe. Prayers are offered at a Buddhist temple called Gompa The festival involves various rituals that are performed by the Lamas, and the festivities is inclusive of all, irrespective of the age, sex and gender, and sees wide spread participation. The festival ends with pantomime dances and a large community feast

Tamladu of Taraon & Kaman Mishmi:

The Tamladu is a festival of the tribe called the Taraon & Kaman Mishmi. It is celebrated annually on 15 th February by the tribes of the Dibang and Lower Dibang Valley District. It is celebrated to promote the health, wealth, safety and prosperity of the people of the tribe.

Khan or Chindung of Miji:

The Chindang is a festival of the tribe called the Miji (Sajolang) who live in West Kameng. It is an annual agricultural festival of the tribe. It is celebrated annually for ten days in autumn. It is celebrated to promote the health, wealth, good harvest and prosperity of the people of the tribe. The festival involves various rituals that are performed to appease various gods. There are sacrifices made of fowls and other birds to the gods. The festival ends with folk dances and a large community feast.

Last year, the Ministry of Tourism, of the Government of India organised the 2nd Edition of the  International Tourism Mart for East and N.E. States at Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.  This was held from the 18th of October to the 20th October in 2013.
