50 Deep and Thought-Provoking Questions
Opening up your mind and really getting deep inside the depths of your brain is something we should all be doing often. These deep and thought provoking questions will enter your deepest thoughts and feelings and help you evaluate yourself and life on a deeper level you probably never imagined. I wonder how you and your friends will answer these very deep questions?
1 If all your prayers were answered, would it change the world or just yours?
A great question to reveal whether our prayers are selfish or if we’re thinking about the benefit of the world, not just ourselves.
2 When is the last time you tried something new?
If it’s been awhile, maybe this will encourage you to try something new and see if you like it- you never know until you try!
3 Do you think crying is a form of strength or weakness?
A great question, as we all have a different opinion on crying.
4 Are you living or existing?
Wow. This is definitely one of the biggest and deepest questions out there, isn’t it? If your answer is just ‘existing’, maybe you should re-evaluate yourself and start living!
5 Are you holding on to something you need to let go of?
Sometimes in life we hold onto things that really shouldn’t be a part of our lives.
6 How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
This is a really fun question because sometimes we don’t act our age, so how old do we truly think we are?
7 What makes you smile?
Such a fun question! What things in life make YOU smile? I mean, really think about it?!
8 When was the last time you listened to the sound of your breathing?
It can be really relaxing and interesting, so you should give it a try.
9 What has life taught you recently?
Life is always teaching us something- especially lessons. What has your life recently taught you that you should be applying to your life?
10 How would you describe your life in a sentence?
This can be a really interesting question that will bring out the most important parts of your life, and show how you truly feel about yourself and the life you are living.
11 If life is so short, then why do we do so many things we do not like, and like so many things we don’t do?
We should really spend our lives doing the things we love instead of the things we don’t. A great question that will really make you think about the way you’re living your life.
12 If we learn from our mistakes, why are we so afraid of making mistakes?
We shouldn’t be afraid to do things out of fear of making a mistake; I mean, let’s learn from our mistakes rather than missing out on parts of life!
13 Is it more important to love or be loved?
A great, great question- what would you say? Do you think it’s better to love others, or is it more important to be loved by others? Everyone will have a different opinion for this question, that’s for sure.
14 What is one act of kindness you were shown that you will never forget?
Perhaps this is something you should do for someone else since it was so special to you.
15 What’s your biggest goal for the next 6 months?
We should always have a goal that we are working towards, so what is yours and what are you doing to accomplish it?
16 If you could live just one day of your life over with, what day would you choose?
It must be a very special and important day if you want to live it all over again, so what day would you pick? And why?
17 If the words you spoke appeared on your skin, would you still be beautiful?
Such an amazing question, because sometimes we can be beautiful on the outside but not so pretty on the inside.
18 What is the point of language if you don’t say what you feel?
Now this is definitely a deep question! We should always say how we feel, that way we never leave anything unspoken and there is no regrets later on.
19 What is one thing you would ask for if you knew the answer would be ‘yes’?
Hmm, great question! Everyone will have a different answer for this, so what is the thing you want more than anything if you could have it right now?
20 If you asked yourself to name all of the things that you love, how long would it take for you to name yourself?
We should always love ourselves! But how many of us would actually put ourselves in the list of things we love? Never forget to love yourself!
21 If you were guaranteed an honest response to one question, whom would you question and what would you ask them?
I’m sure there’s one thing we are all dying to know from someone, so whom would you ask a question to and what would you ask them? Wouldn’t it be nice to get an honest answer about that question? If only this could really happen!
22 Would you like you, if you met you?
Hmm, this is definitely thought provoking. I mean, think about it: what if you met yourself. Would you really like yourself or is there something you wouldn’t like? Maybe we should fix this issue we have with ourselves!
23 What are you willing to give up to become who you really need to be?
Sometimes we have to let go of something important to spread our wings and fly in this life.
24 Are you really happy or just really comfortable?
It is great to be comfortable, but we should not settle until we are truly happy. Which are you?
25 What is there not enough of in this world?
There’s a lot of things we need in this world, but in your opinion, what is there not enough of in this world? How do you think we could get more of this thing and how would it help? A very deep question about life and the world we live in.
26 Have you ever wondered which hurts the most: saying something and wishing you had not, or saying nothing, and wishing you had?
I love this question because it’s so true! Which one hurts more? We all know saying something we don’t mean is rough, but what about saying nothing and regretting it? WOW.
27 Which is worse, failing or never trying? What are you most grateful for?
A two-part question that is definitely thought-provoking. Do you think it’s better to have not tried something at all, or fail at trying? Are you a risk taker or do you settle? A very deep question, followed by another great one: what are you grateful for? Hopefully a lot!
28 If the average human life span was only 40 years old, how would you live your life differently?
If life was a lot shorter, than we would all be doing things a lot differently, wouldn’t we?
29 Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
A very important question that can really tell us a lot about ourselves, a question you should certainly ask yourself!
30 Have you been the kind of a friend you want as friend?
We all know about the qualities we want in a friend, but do we hold up to these same qualities? Do you think that your friends are happy with the way they’ve been treated? If you don’t think you would want yourself as a friend, it’s time to reevaluate and change some things so you’re the best friend you can be.
31 If you could offer a newborn baby one piece of advice, what would it be?
Wow, now this is a deep question! There’s a newborn baby- they don’t know anything about, well, anything really. So what advice would you give this brand new child about life? A very important question indeed.
32 Would you break the law in order to save a loved one?
Extremely difficult choice to make- would you do it?
33 What is one thing you do differently than most people?
A fun, but still deep question that will let you know more about yourself and show off just how special and unique you are.
34 What is one thing you have not done that you really want to do?
We all have something we want to do but haven’t done yet- what’s that one thing for you? Maybe it is time to try it!
35 How come the things that make you happy don’t make everyone happy?
That’s so true, isn’t it? Different things make us all happy, while others make us sad. Why is it that way?
36 What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
With so much judging in the world, it can be difficult to be who we truly are and do the things we really want to do. So, what would you change if nobody would judge you?
37 Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years in order to become famous or rich?
What price would you be willing to pay just to have fame and fortune? Is it worth your lifespan?
38 How many promises have you made and how many of them have you fulfilled?
It’s a bad answer if you say you haven’t fulfilled many of them! We need to KEEP the promises we MAKE.
39 Do you remember someone you hated 10 years ago? Does it matter now?
It’s funny how over time, we see how unimportant it is to hate someone.
40 If you were to die right now, would you have any regrets?
Hopefully your answer is no. If it’s yes, then you may want to change the way you’re living your life so you have no regrets.
41 Have I built my character?
Well, have you? Or have you let everyone else decide who you are and how you’re supposed to act? A very thought-provoking question everyone should ask themselves.
42 What is the number 1 motivator in your life right now?
What is motivating you most? Hopefully it’s yourself or some very important goal!
43 What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?
I am sure there is something we would all love to attempt to do if we knew we couldn’t fail; but hey, even though we COULD fail, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t at least TRY.
44 Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?
We shouldn’t compare ourselves to others, but we as humans can’t help it; so who do you compare yourself too, and why?
45 What gets you excited about life?
Figure out what makes you excited about living and do it/be around it more often!
46 What life lesson did you learn the hard way?
Whatever your life lesson was, hopefully you learned from it and never make that mistake again so you don’t have to repeat the horrible process.
47 Do you ask enough questions or do you settle for what you know?
Never stop asking questions!
48 What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?
I’m sure there’s something you have accomplished in a year, so what is it?
49 What do you wish you spent more time doing five years ago?
Regretting not doing something five years ago? Don’t waste another second and start doing it now!
50 When you are 80 years old, what will matter to you the most?
Hmm, we will all have different answers, so this is a fun one to ask!
