One of the newest shows on this list is on NBC. Created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, Chicago P.D. Follows the story of uniformed cops and detectives. Basically, the show bounces between the stories of the uniformed cops and their day-to-day life on the job and the Intelligence Unit. On the Intelligence Unit, the cops are in charge of dealing with organized crime, drug traffickers and any high-profile crimes. Gossip Girl

If you want shows like One Tree Hill, then you have to see Gossip Girl. It blends a mix of amazing fashion, love and romance for one highly addictive television show. In essence, Gossip Girl follows the stories of ulta-rich teenagers. Based on the East Coast and Southern California, this show is narrated by the blogger called “Gossip Girl”. smallville

Smallville

If you have not watched Smallville yet, you need to. This show ran from 2001 to 2006 on WB and the CW. Basically, it is a modified, new version of Superman. Instead of portraying the adult Clark Kent, the television show starts with Superman as a teenager. The 218 episodes of the show are part coming-of-age story and part superhero. If you like the comic books, you may be upset by some of the changes, but you will ultimately enjoy this small town superhero.

Melrose Place

Originally aired on the Fox Network, Melrose Place ran from 1992 to 1999. It focuses in on the lives of some young adults who live within Melrose Place, California. This older show is similar to a classic soap opera because of the heightened drama, romance and complicated relationships that it portrays. Altogether, it had a total of 226 episodes. If you hate running out of episodes after just one season, then Melrose Place is an excellent show to watch—it lasts forever and you will never get bored.

Pretty Little Liars

Started in 2010, Pretty Little Liars revolves around the lives of four teenage girls. The main characters are Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin and Emily Fields. secret circle

The Secret Circle

The Secret Circle is the show that you have never heard about, but should have. Based on the book by L.J. Smith, this television show is a teen, supernatural drama. It only ran for one season, but it was still rather enjoyable to watch. The Secret Circle revolves around the story of a teenage girl named Cassie. She moves to a new town, enrolls in high school and lives with her grandmother. After starting school, she realizes that all of the other students are witches. Although this show was predictable at times, it was still really fun to watch—after all, who doesn’t dream of having magical powers?

new girl

New Girl

New Girl is by far one of my favorite shows. In the first season, Jess breaks up with her long-term boyfriend and finds roommates on Craigslist. Attracted by the thought of her model best friend, the three guys decide to room with her. What ensues is a hilarious, side-bursting plot line. From learning the game True American to watching in amused horror as the group surmounts one awkward moment after another, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this.

suits

Suits

If you want a show like One Tree Hill that stars non-teenagers, then Suits is the show to watch. This legal drama follows the story of Mike Ross and Harvey Specter. Harvey is forced to work at the law firm because he got caught with drugs while Ross is a brilliant college dropout. At the beginning, Mike Ross ends up getting interviewed because he is avoiding a drug sting. Since Ross is brilliant and has an eidetic memory, he is able to convince Harvey that he is a Harvard educated lawyer.

life unexpected

Life Unexpected

Although Life Unexpected is the last one on the list, don’t let that fool you! This television show included two seasons and 26 episodes. It focuses on the life of Lux, a fifteen year old girl that bounces from foster home to foster home. After choosing to get emancipated, she discovers her real father. As it turns out, he was unaware that he even had a daughter. Altogether, this teenage drama was enjoyable to watch and was a lot like One Tree Hill. Teenage drama, family matters and growing up are all just a few of the factors that make this show great.
