From Pastel Hair to Fresh Skin: 16 of the Best Celebrity Beauty Looks Lately
Pastel hair just ain't gonna die—not when it looks as good as Abbey Lee Kershaw wore it this week. Also amazing: Nathalie Emmanuel's fresh face 'n' dreads, Dove Cameron's doll-like glossy stain and Rebecca Ferguson's high ponytail with cat eyes. (Yep, lots of newbie B-lister beauty this time around!)
These were the best celebrity beauty looks this week:
Abbey Lee Kershaw
Last month, Abbey debuted pink and turquoise hair at an amfAR event—and she's not done playing. I like this dip-dyed green even better (and no, never imagined typing those words). She wore it the cool girl way, with what looks like not a stitch of makeup except for black mascara.
Nathalie Emmanuel
It's Nathalie's first time on the blog, and hopefully not her last, because—wow! I'm sure Giuliana Rancic is frowning at these dreads, but they look amazing with her fresh, flattering makeup. Love the pinky stain, shimmery champagne shadow, natural lashes and big brows. My kind of makeup exactly!
Dove Cameron
Okay, so Dove looks like a doll come to life. But I like that she just goes with it, you know? The glossy stained red lips and flushed cheeks play up her (ridiculously perfect) porcelain skin, and even though the hairstyle might not be super-trendy, her soft waves and blonde colour make it look really healthy.
Rebecca Ferguson
Rebecca is another newbie to the blog (turns out, there's another Rebecca Ferguson, but they look very different). They're calling this one “the second coming of Lauren Bacall,” and I can see a bit of that. The graphic liquid liner flicks make for a cool contrast on natural, bare-looking skin. No earrings, just a high ponytail that gives it a modern '60s spin.
Zendaya
Zendaya is totally growing on me! This look is much tamer than some of the stuff we've seen on the red carpet. With her hair in a shiny, side-parted blowout, her heavier makeup tendencies seems to work better. The muted warm colour palette is gorgeous on her, if only it could be dialled back a couple levels on the application. (Also: do I detect Instagram brows? Noooo, Zendaya!)
Olesya Rulin
Another beauty! Olesya kept things fresh and chic in a strict, centre-parted updo with a pop of bright orange on the lips. Lashes are natural, and there's more of that universally flattering champagne shimmer on the lids, below the crease.
Ashley Greene
Looks like Ashley lightened her hair—I like it. I like it a lot! Also loving how the colour extended to her makeup for a tone-on-tone look, with gorgeous textured shadow, beautifully illuminated skin and a soft pinky-nude mouth. She really has amazing eyes for smokies!
Hermione Corfield
I want Hermione's hair! Well, her everything, really. I love that she paired her strawberry colour with similar peachy-coral tones on her lips and cheeks, and a classic brown smoky eye. Such a stunner; I'm sure we'll see more of her.
Kate Mara
Kate's new short haircut was made for collars like this, basically. Both frame her face, where she did a surprise purple shadow and cool pink on the lips and cheeks. What keeps it fresh is the brow liner all the way around, and the softened, stained textures—nothing is too heavy.
Rebecca Hall
Oh wow, I'm having serious flashbacks of when Emma Watson used to have short hair and did the same slicked-down look with dramatic eyes and earrings. Rebecca pulls it all off well, and her freckles add a cute touch. Love her peach lips also. Too bad about her bloodshot eyes!
Hailey Baldwin
Oh my, look at the gleam coming off Hailey's cheek! She strobed and it came out fantastic. Elsewhere, her skin, lids and lips are all natural and matte. Hair looks like it could use a wash, but when her face looks like that, it hardly matters.
Julie Benz
Whatever Julie is doing lately, she needs to keep it up! She is radiant in this stained fuchsia lip (which isn't too matchy to the dress) and a low ponytail with loose pieces left out on either side at the front. I could lose the false lashes, but overall, this is such a youthful, pretty look on her.
Elsa Pataky
Elsa's short haircut to end all short haircuts is long gone. RIP. Now, it's grown out into this wavy lob, which I love—except for the colour. It seems too blonde and almost greyish; I'd love to see her in a warmer, darker colour like she had in the past. What do you think, are those her real cheeks?
Sophie Simmons
Sophie (whose dad is Gene Simmons) played it exactly right with her hair and makeup. I'm very impressed! The defined long lashes are perfect with the soft brown shadow, and for colour, she did a mid-pink matte lipstick with a lovely pink wash on her cheeks. Hair is ultra-healthy also. I wouldn't change a thing!
Krysten Ritter
I love ex-model Krysten's unique look (and I see she gets that red flush thing on her neck, how endearing!). As usual, it's all about the contrast between her naturally black hair and pale skin, accentuated by black liner on the top lash line only and stained red lips. I just don't like the unblended brow-filling job… we should not be able to see that line!
Christina Applegate
Looks like Christina got a little style upgrade. I think these softer makeup colours and lighter hair colour suit her better, and the styling just seems more modern overall. Her blush is poorly blended, but that bright pink lipstick is fab.
