From Short Hair to Tousled Waves: 26 of the Best Celebrity Beauty Looks Lately

Usually, I'm most inspired by new makeup ideas on the red carpet, but with this edition of celeb beauty looks, it's all about the hair!

From chic blunt styles to soft and touchable waves, there's something for every length and texture here—in an array of healthy-looking colours.

Plus, a certain someone has a brand new pixie cut that will blow you away!

Here are the latest looks you need to see:

Katie Holmes

What I like: Hallelujah, Katie has short hair again! She is one of those rare women—Shailene Woodley is another—who actually look BETTER with a pixie. (Here it is from the side. Such a good cut!) The dewy skin, subtle makeup and long lashes are equally perfect and youthful. I feel like she hasn't looked this amazing since the Tom Cruise years! What I'd change: Nothing.

Allison Williams

What I like: Finally, I can get behind Allison as a blonde! When she first bleached her hair earlier this year, it was way too light and fried-looking (see here for a reminder). This warm honey shade is healthier and more flattering to her skin tone. Note the darker roots and eyebrows. Her skin is insanely perfect, and the makeup basically looks air-brushed. Just flawless! What I'd change: Nothing.

Charli XCX

What I like: Charli's new, mid-length chop! The blunt ends, the long bangs, the healthy shine… it's SO good on her. And her skin looks in excellent condition, too. (Compared to the last time we saw her, this is quite the change!) She's wearing less makeup than ever before: soft, smoky liner, no blush and a pinky gloss. Loving it all! What I'd change: Nothing.

Lupita Nyong'o

What I like: Lupita's bold orchid lipstick, which is unexpected—and awesome—with that shimmering green dress. She paired it with what looks like a warmer-toned blush, which keeps it from going too '80s. But truly, the standout feature here is the way the light reflects off her skin. Beautiful! What I'd change: Her lip liner isn't blended, and I'm not crazy about the stiff false lashes at her outer corners.

Lupita is wearing: Eyeshadow in Rose Nocturne ‣ Eyeliner in Noir ‣ Lip balm ‣ Lipstick in Hit List ‣ Lipstick in Berry in Love

Margot Robbie

What I like: Margot's curled-under lob with a deep side part. Doesn't a curled-under style suddenly look so RIGHT? It's a modern-day version of Michelle Pfeiffer's hair in 'Scarface.' I'm also into the graphic shape of her eyeshadow, which is a look we've seen a lot on Gigi Hadid in the past. Full brows, natural lashes and soft peach lips bring it all together. This is one of my favourite Margot looks ever! What I'd change: Nothing.

Christina Hendricks

What I like: Christina's soft, pretty waves and face-framing bangs. This is one of her best wigs yet! Meanwhile, the bold lip and seamless blush are my favourite way to play up her ultra-pale skin. Usually, I don't like black liner with red lipstick, but this works, thanks to the soft smokiness and natural lashes. What I'd change: Nothing.

Lily Collins

What I like: Does anyone wear vampy lipstick better than Lily? I don't think so! I love this oxblood shade with the charcoal liner, long lashes and barely-there blush and eyeshadow. The inner corner highlights are so important to make it pop! With such a strong makeup statement, the simple, straight hair makes total sense. What I'd change: Nothing.

Devon Aoki

What I like: Devon's “Blair Waldorf” beauty vibe. I'll always have a soft spot for hairbands (sorry not sorry!). Her blonde is growing on me, and as always, I love her bold blush and freckles. The rest of the makeup is about the same as last time, with a slightly subtler cat eye here. What I'd change: The powder isn't blended around her nose.

Bryce Dallas Howard

What I like: Bryce's long, half-up strawberry waves. They remind me of Sienna Miller's hair in 'Alfie'—another one of my favourite movie hairstyles. The makeup is all sheer pinky tones, with a smoky liner along the top lashes and a darker berry hue on the lips. So fresh and pretty! What I'd change: Nothing.

Adriana Lima

What I like: Adriana's sleek hair and perfectly-applied red lipstick. Actually, the eye makeup is flawless, too—it's defining her eyes without any obvious lines or heavy lashes. See how the illuminator takes it to the next level? That said, I think it's really her cheekbones that are the star of this show. (Probably enhanced?) What I'd change: I think her one eyebrow is “Spocking” from Botox.

Izabel Goulart

What I like: Izabel's subtle brown smoky eyes and medium-pink lipstick. With darkened brows, soft lashes and liner along her top lash lines, this is makeup that could take you anywhere. The ponytail is super-cute to tone down the glamorous dress and earrings. What I'd change: Nothing.

Hailee Steinfeld

What I like: Hailee's disco-inspired curls, which are flat and straight on the top, and pinned back at the front and side. I'd love to see more celebs embracing tighter curly styles like this (instead of those droopy curling iron waves!). I'm equally enamoured with the shimmery purple shadow in a circular shape. Rather than strong liner, it's the lashes that ground the colour (along with her big, natural brows). What I'd change: Nothing.

Daniela Braga

What I like: Daniela's mesmerizing smoky eyes. Brown eyeshadow hasn't been that on-trend lately, but it looks fresh with the silver highlights and black waterlines. I love her brows—and skin, wow! What I'd change: Nothing.

Anna Kendrick

What I like: Anna's super-long hair, parted deep and pinned back on one side. I also like how the eye and lip colours subtly pick up the copper tones of her dress. What I'd change: Her skin looks quite powdery, and I think the liners (eye AND lip) should be more blurred.

Bella Hadid

What I like: Bella's sleek, tight updo and luminous skin. Since her dress is so va-va-voom, she made the right move by sticking with a tone-on-tone makeup look. What I'd change: I really dislike this pair of false lashes, and her face needs to be more tan to match her body!

Emmanuelle Chriqui

What I like: Emmanuelle's shimmering pink eyeshadow and matching lipstick. I appreciate that she's showing us a casual interpretation of this trend. Again, notice the black waterlines, which are essential with any pastel colour. What I'd change: A bit of powder (and hair serum!) would make this look more polished.

Elsa Hosk

What I like: Elsa's '60s eye makeup. I know it's her go-to, but it really works for her (although I'm pretty sure her icy blue eyes would look amazing no matter what!). I'm glad she chose a medium pink lipstick, however, as a pale shade would be too retro. I love her hair slightly shorter like this, with flippy layers and a centre part. What I'd change: It looks like she needs more coverage around her chin and mouth, which are darker than the rest of her face.

Hailey Clauson

What I like: Hailey's cute, side-parted bob, which is straight but with texture. This is another example of keeping the roots and brows darker for a more realistic look. I actually like her choice of false lashes! What I'd change: The overdrawn lips are a bit obvious.

Diane Kruger

What I like: Diane's purple smoky eyes and pink lip stain. They match her dress, but in a subtle way. As always, we can count on her for defined but natural lashes. What I'd change: The brow pencil is mismatched, and I'm not a fan of the wavy side bang. (The rest of her bob is pinned up at the back.) I think a sleek updo would've been better with all that's going on here.

Joey King

What I like: Joey's bronzey-brown eyeshadow and matte, reddish-pink lips. She basically took inspiration from her hair colour and dress. I love the definition in her crease, and she has excellent brows. What I'd change: It's not bad (a bit shiny perhaps), but I don't think she needs so much foundation.

Karlie Kloss

What I like: Karlie's makeup for hooded eyes—which consists of a strong black from lash line to crease, and a shimmering grey-brown up to the brows. I LOVE that she hasn't fallen victim to the current model trend of getting lip injections. What I'd change: I'm still not on board with her platinum hair colour.

Kerry Washington

What I like: Kerry's glowing skin! I think the pink makeup is fun (even if there are a few issues with the application), and the high updo and sparkly barrette suit her ladylike style. What I'd change: It's all in the details… the lip liner, blush and brow pencil shouldn't be so visible, and those lashes have got to go!

Rosamund Pike

What I like: Rosamund's glossy lips, long lashes and groomed, feathered brows. I always think she looks best when she doesn't wear a lot of makeup. Plus, props to her for avoiding Botox (she's 38 now)! What I'd change: Her skin seems dry, and the hair is on the messy side of textured.

Juliette Binoche

What I like: Juliette's long, glossy, centre-parted hair. I also like her cat eyes and pale peach lipstick. What I'd change: Her eyebrows are so light and warm! They need to be much ashier. And the brown eyeshadow needs more blending.

Jennifer Lawrence

What I like: Jennifer's gorgeous skin (like, seriously gorgeous!) and face-framing wavy updo. I also love her eyeliner, which is almost like a reverse cat eye because it's focused on the lower lash line. What I'd change: The eyeshadow is just too heavy, and overpowers the look. Also, her lower lip liner doesn't appear blended.

Alicia Silverstone

What I like: Alicia's straight, side-parted hair, which frames her face and earrings perfectly. She matched her lip colour to her dress, and it's a great, complexion-brightening shade for her. Notice the silver shimmer around her eyes for a sparkly effect. What I'd change: Her lipstick is wearing off, but it happens! I don't think more coverage would solve the textural issues.
